The percentage of full-time employees who take vacations has declined over the last few years. Nearly 65 percent of full-time workers say they plan to take a vacation at some point this year, down from 80 percent in 2007, according to research compiled by .
Even when employees save up funds for trips, work follows them on vacation. Forty-two percent of employees have canceled or postponed vacation plans because of work, and 4 out of 10 managers expect employees to check email while on vacation. Nonetheless, many employees refuse to let work spoil their fun – 32 percent never check their work email while on vacation and 34 percent only check their email sometimes.
