SmartNews has announced the close of a $92 million round of funding, now valuing the company at $1.2 billion. The SmartNews algorithm automatically curates the must-read stories that matter in the world with zero loading time. SmartNews is focused on two key markets, Japan and the United States. One of its main goals with the new funding is to continue growing in the U.S.

Marissa Mayer has resurfaced with a new startup called Lumi Labs, a startup focused on building consumer applications enabled by artificial intelligence. The new Venture will focus on the grand challenges of A.I. such as self-driving cars and global facial recognition. Their first experiment is the Lumi Labs Holiday Helper.

Mojo, a fertility startup, just raised a $1.8 million seed round of funding led by Nordic seed fund Inventure. Mojo’s mission is to make access to fertility treatment more affordable and accessible by using AI and robotics technology.
